Year 6 Personal Education
In year 6, we have been learning about what it feels like to belong. We have considered those who may not feel like they belong like the Afghan families who have had to leave the homes, with very little notice, and come to a country where they don’t know anyone.
When reading the Doncaster Free Press, we learnt that there are currently 3 families who have been rehomed from Afghanistan with the possibility of 6 more families arriving shortly.
Each child has written to their family and asked for their support. They asked if they could donate a personal hygiene product to help the Afghan families on arrival to Doncaster.
We have had an absolutely amazing response. Year 6 have donated 173 products in just two weeks! We have estimated that the total cost, in money terms, would be just under £100 – this is brilliant! With the help of Alun at “freely given, given freely”, we will ensure that the families receive our donated products.
The children have been really enthused by this project and look forward to supporting other people as the year goes along.
Well done Year 6
