World Mental Health Day 2021
World Mental Health Day 2021
On Friday 8 October it is World Mental Health Day. We will be inviting the children to wear something yellow on this day. Children can wear all yellow or an item of clothing that is yellow, e.g, a yellow hat, yellow socks, yellow t-shirt.
We are asking our school to wear yellow to show young people they are not alone with their mental health. It is important for us all to know that keeping mentally healthy is just as important as being physically healthy.
Yellow, as a colour, often represents sunshine and happiness, and we will remind the children that staying healthy, fit and well includes looking after our own mental health.
We will talk to the children about it being ‘okay to not feel okay’ as long as they talk to someone about this so that we can help them.
Further information and support about mental health for parents/carers is available on the Young Minds website: https://www.youngminds.org.uk and there is a telephone number for parents: 0808 802 5544 (Monday to Friday 9:30am – 4:00pm).
