Covid Update - Letter to Parents January 2022
Covid Update - 11th January 2022
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year!
Thank you so much for all your support as we have started this new term – the children have all settled really well after the Christmas break and have come back to school with positive attitudes and fantastic work ethic - we are very proud of them.
We continue to implement additional safety measures in school, as the cases of Covid continue to rise in Doncaster, including the continued provision of additional cleaning, hand sanitising/washing, keeping year groups as separate as we can etc., and we appreciate the support of parents wearing masks on the school site and grounds – thank you!
As a school, we are suffering with staff absence as a result of Covid, but we have managed to keep all classes open to date, and will continue to try and manage this as best we can.
We are also seeing an increase in cases of Covid being reported in children across some year groups too – please remember that if your child is unwell with any of the 3 Covid symptoms, please get them tested.
Positive cases of Covid:
From 11th January 2022, staff and pupils who test positive using a Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test will have to self-isolate immediately (as per current guidance) but won’t be required to take a PCR test to confirm their LFD result. This is because most people "with positive LFD results can be confident that they have COVID-19" while levels of the virus remain high across the UK.
However, please ensure you register your result with ‘Track and Trace’ through the online reporting site: www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
If your child tests positive, either through LFD or PCR, please call our school office or email secretary@warmsworthschool.co.uk with details so that we can keep track of cases in school and provide remote learning through Google Classroom, should your child be well enough to complete this.
Close contacts of positive cases:
If your child has been a close contact of a positive case, they no longer need to isolate, however, they must do a Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test each morning before attending school for at least 7 days from the last contact with the person who tested positive.
The diagram below from the UK Health Support Agency explains the time line for self-isolation.
If your child tests a clear negative on an LFD on day 6 and day 7 (24 hours apart) and does not have a temperature, they may then return back to school.
If your child tests positive on day 6 or day 7 they should keep testing until they receive clear negative LFD tests on 2 consecutive days, or they can come in after day 10 even with a positive lateral flow test as long as they do not have a temperature - as at this point it is deemed so low that you they are no longer infectious.
Thank you again for all your help and support.
Kind regards,
Mrs R Train
