Year 6 ES/NB maths group

In Y6 maths, we had a discovery session to assess our prior knowledge about volume.  We calculated volumes by counting squares and using the h x w x d formula, we measured boxes to find their volumes, we worked out missing measurements, we made shapes which looked different but had the same volume and we worked out how to work out the volume of more compound shapes.  We used lots of resources to help our learning.  We learnt that designers and architects use this knowledge every day in their profession. We have a few budding designers and architects in Y6.
