Year 6 - an introduction to Ancient Mayan history

Year 6 have recently begun their learning about the Ancient Mayan civilisation. 

First, we discussed how historians learn about ancient civilisations and things that happened in the past. We identified that one way to learn about the past is to study artefacts, so we set about being archaelogists for the lesson and uncovered a variety of items. These gave us some initial clues about what the Ancient Mayan civilisation was.

Next, we looked at some key events from the Ancient Mayan timeline. These went as far back as 1100BC (over 3,000 years ago) and ended as recently as 1500AD - or CE.
