Year 4 art learning
In Year 4, we have been studied the work of Jackson Pollock. We have developed our skills as art critics to analyse his work discussing the use of colours and techniques. We have applied our learning to create our own artwork using his different techniques including splattering. As part of our English learning, we researched the life of Jackson Pollock and wrote biographies.
Extracts from our biographies:
Lacey:
Jackson Pollock was a unique painter. He was born in 1912 into a large family, and he was inspired to become a painter by both his eldest brother and his teacher. His methods were unusual and captured a lot of attention. His painting style was called ‘drip’ and involved splatting paint on a giant, horizontal canvas on the floor.
Isaac:
Jackson Pollock was born in 1912, and he was the youngest of five sons. He was born on January 28th and died on August 11th, 1956. Pollock gained his inspiration to become an artist from his brother Charles and one of his teachers who was an artist. He was influential in the art world for creating something called ‘drip painting’.
