Year 3 - Science 6.7.22
Date: 6th Jul 2022 @ 4:49pm
We have worked extremely hard in our teams to complete our life-sized body maps in science. We have added key parts of the human skeleton including the skull, spine, ribs and pelvis yesterday, and the key arm bones (humerus, radius and ulna) and leg bones (femur, tibia, fibula and patella) today. Take a look at some of our finished diagrams below.
We now know that:
- The human skeleton is made of bones. It supports the body by holding it up, protects our organs and helps the body to move.
- Our skull protects our brain.
- Our ribs protect our heart and lungs. They also help our bodies to stay upright along with our spine.
- Our pelvis connects the spine and our legs.
- The humerus is the long bone in the upper arm between the elbow and shoulder. The radius is the smaller bone in the forearm, and the ulna is the larger bone.
- The femur is the thigh bone. The tibia is the larger bone in the lower leg, and the fibula is the smaller bone. The patella is the kneecap.
