Year 3 Litter pick 4.7.23
Date: 5th Jul 2023 @ 8:29am
On Tuesday, year 3 carried out a sponsored litter pick to support and help our local community. The children were ready to go with their litter pickers, rubbish bags and clipboards, inspired to make a difference and to promote and encourage change. 3JC kicked off the day with their litter pick at the Warmsworth Cricket pitch, collecting a huge 440 pieces of litter! In the afternoon it was 3HK's turn to do their part. We ventured all across the flower park collecting litter, the children were shocked to have found and collected 389 pieces of litter between them. In total, year 3 collected an incredible 829 pieces of litter! They felt proud to have made a positive impact on their local environment and want to encourage people to do the same. A big thank you to all those that have supported us in the enterprise session, sponsoring and encouraging the children, and those that came on the day and helped with the litter pick. A big thank you from us and all the children goes to Alfie's Nanna, June, who was so kind to give the school 10 litter pickers, provide us with rubbish bags and rings for them as well as accompany us on the litter pick and support with disposing of the rubbish. The cans collected were also taken by June and given to support Jake's fund, Jake is 12 years old and has Cerebral Palsy and learning difficulties. He is raising funds for ongoing therapy needs through Tree of Hope. Overall, the day was a brilliantly successful day and we feel incredibly proud of the enthusiasm the children brought to the opportunity to make positive change and the motivation they have shown to continue to make change and be responsible members of the community.
