Sunflower seed planting
Date: 12th May 2022 @ 10:35pm
This afternoon we worked with Mr Wilson in the quad and planted some sunflower seeds. We looked at some of the heads from last years sunflowers and observed how the seeds had changed. We looked and talked about the sunflower seeds that we were going to plant. Mr Wilson explained what would happen once the seed was planted. He modelled how to fill the pot with compost and not to push it down, but to shake it carefully and then wipe the excess off. We then needed to make a hole by pushing our finger in gently in the middle of the pot. The seed then goes in the hole, and we cover it with more compost. It is then ready to water.
We are going to watch our seeds grow into small seedlings, and when they are big enough we are going to plant them in the KS1 playground.
