Patterns, reading and The Little Red Hen

Across F2 we have had a wonderful return to our learning this week. Children have continued to enjoy creating their own repeating patterns and have been choosing to do this as part of their own learning during provision time. We have introduced our new text The Little Red Hen and discussed with the children being kind, being helpful and what makes a good friend. Both classes have completed some beautiful writing tasks linked to The Little Red Hen, showing that their phonics knowledge is beginning to grow - well done and thank you for supporting with phonics learning at home!

We have also started our regular guided reading sessions in classroom time this week - we read with the children every day and they have enjoyed seeing their jungle reading records filling up with stamps. Again, thank you for supporting your child with their reading at home. We are so impressed with how the children have adapted to this new daily lesson and are always enthusiastic about the book they are reading. We have also seen the children enjoying the reading areas with their friends, sharing books and taking it in turns to pretend to be a teacher reading to the class which has been wonderful to watch!

We gathered objects to create a natural number line as part of our Welly Wednesday activity - the children were very helpful in finding yellow, green and brown leaves along with a variety of twigs! 

We hope the children have all enjoyed their first week back after the half term holiday - we have loved hearing about what they have been up to and how they celebrated Halloween in different ways. Enjoy your weekend!
