Bread tasting, bread making and bit of celebrating too!

In F2 we love to encourage hands-on learning with the children so as part of our exploration of the story of The Little Red Hen last week we conducted a taste test investigation of a variety of bread and then had a go at making our own. This proved a huge success and the children were able to cut their own rolls of bread into three pieces and spread each piece with a different topping.
In our Welly Wednesday outdoor learning the children took some pumpkins into the woodland area for the squirrels - just in case they might be hungry. We also gathered leaves in a variety of colours to create our own natural rangoli pattern as part of our learning about celebrating Diwali this week. The children have re-enacted the story of Rama and Sita using puppets and created some beautiful fireworks pictures using pastels. We discussed that we see fireworks when it is Bonfire Night but also as part of the Diwali celebrations - the Festival of Light.
On Monday the children were all very happy to show us their odd socks - thank you for supporting our Odd Sock Day to support our anti-bullying message. The children enjoyed discussing why we should celebrate our own uniqueness and individuality and also celebrate each other.
It was wonderful to see the children looking so colourful today in support of Children in Need - thank you once again for your support and we hope the children have enjoyed their week!
